BeautyCon Festival New York 2017

On May 20th, 2017, I attended Beautycon NYC at Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. This was my second time I’ve attended this event. I attended Beautycon in NYC for the first time back in October 2016, and it was a lot of fun and great way to learn about new products and meet with other beauty lovers and bloggers. One of the biggest decisions on attending Beautycon is deciding which ticket you want to purchase based on the experience you prefer. There are four different tickets to choose from.

The Beauty Academy: this ticket allows for the earliest entry to the event three hours before opening to the general public, a reserved personal vanity station, and private tutorial lounge. These ticket holders also received cocktails and treats, a Beautycon Robe, and tote bag. This is the most expensive ticket.

The Social Package: which allows you access to meet your favorite beauty influencers, a VIP tote, and beauty lounge access where beauty influencers were providing beauty tutorials.

The Hauler Package: two-hour early access to all of the booths and a VIP tote bag, and then the

General Admission Ticket: providing public access admission at 12PM attend the different booths. Regardless of which ticket you chose, you still had access to see the celebrities and panel discussions which covered a range of beauty topics and access to over 70+ beauty brands booths.

Two things to complete prior in preparation for the event is receiving your wristband in the mail and activating your wristband. I’ve noticed a lot of festivals lately are sending wristbands ahead of time for easy smooth access the day of the event. This also gives you the cashless pay option. Also, you could download the Beautycon App on your phone to view all the different brands attending and schedule out your day in advance. It’s best to have a plan to cover your favorite brands first for goodies and so you don’t miss your favorite beauty influencers and product freebies.

The first time I attended I purchased the Social Package which allowed you time to meet with some of the top beauty influencers, a VIP tote bag, and early arrival at 10AM to of all the booths, however being that I spent more time at the booths my first time around and enjoyed learning about the upcoming beauty products and trends more than meeting influencers, this time around I chose the Hauler Package. The Hauler package allowed you to arrive at the venue early at 10:00 AM and a gift tote bag. This worked perfectly for me because I’d just landed back to New York from San Diego the morning of the event at 6:00 AM. I was extremely tired, however clearly the love of beauty is real and allowed me to get through the day. I wanted to visit as many booths before it began to get crowded, and this is key when you are a Hauler like me.

I still have so many beauty products from the first event, I haven’t needed to purchase any beauty products over the last six months (although I still do) lol. I left with four additional filled bags and shared with my mom and sister. This time believe it or not, I left with even more bags. There were cute shuttle buses downtown in Brooklyn providing rides to and from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. I parked my car in a garage nearby before boarding the bus, but it was also right next to the subway providing easy access for people traveling to the festival. Subscribe to my page if you haven’t already for notification of my next post on Beautycon’s gift bag product review to see the products I took home with me.

The day was filled with art installations which were great for photoshoots or selfies, animated photo booths, and celebrity panelist. There were also a list of different DJ’s like Amy Pham and Chantel Jeffries on-site holding down the music, and tons of beauty brands with different festivities in each booth. The day was hosted by GiGi Gorgeous on the main stage introducing top youtubers and celebs covering topics on beauty, relationships, career goals, motivational and inspirational talks. There were 100+ content creators participating in chats on the pink carpet for media interviews from MTV, Seventeen, Refinery29 and others interviewing them on makeup tips throughout the day. It was fun to see all of the new released products ahead of time and test.

Some of my highlights from this event:

Live tutorials: from Revlon on Stage presenting different looks like how to achieve the perfect highlight or winged eyeliner looks.

Women motivating women: The women behind the Women’s March were live on chats.

Gabrielle Union: It was nice to see Gabrielle Union talk about women coming together and building their own brands, as well as launching her own brand of hair products. She reminded women to always go after their dreams and it’s never too late to do what you love or try something new even when it can be scary.

Drew Barrymore: photobombed one of my photos and I was a little annoyed until I realized it was Drew Barrymore lol. I love her new beauty line FlowerBeauty

I met @MissJuliaKelly who was super sweet by the way. I love her page and she’s gorgeous.

Soap&Glory PhotoBooth- They had an amazing booth last Beautycon and even better one this year. They are one of my favorite’s I recommend visiting.

I enjoyed meeting other ladies throughout the day who also loved beauty and sharing our favorite products, tips and tricks.

If you love beauty, no matter what you will have a fun filled day. They offer drinks, free refill water stations, food and snacks on site as well. They had tons of food trucks this year. I recommend attending one. There is also Beautycon LA if you’re in the West Coast in Mid- August.
