Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

The Annual Polo Classic returned to NYC in Liberty State Park. This year on June 3rd 2017 I attended the 10th Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic event for the first time. I’ve always viewed pretty pictures from the event online and it seemed like a such a fun day. I love to picnic and horses so I decided this year I wouldn’t miss it. Luckily the weather was a beautiful 75 degrees and it was so much fun.

Tickets go on sale and sell out pretty quickly. If you are an American Express Card Holder you will receive notification ahead of time for the event since they are a sponsor and can purchase tickets early. If not I would recommend you take one of the morning the tickets go on sale to purchase first. Much like other events you can purchase different level of tickets and you will also need a ferry ticket. There is a General Admission ticket and Rose Garden ticket. I purchased a regular ticket since it was my first time, and took the ferry from downtown across to (Liberty State Park).

You also receive a wristband to wear over to the park. I packed a picnic basket with friends and enjoyed bottles while we ate and watched the races. Once you arrive at the venue there is also food to purchase if you do not want to bring food, and of course plenty to drink, just be prepared to stand on line if you do not arrive early with food. I believe this year the tickets I purchased you are limited to purchase 2 drinks and 1 bottle per person. I think they were keeping control of the crowd. The event is from 10AM to 6PM and I recommend arriving early if you want to get a good spot up front on the lawn unless you purchase VIP tickets. This year there were two new champagne offerings the Veuve Cliquot Rich and Rich Rose served with fresh fruit over ice by the glass. I thought they both taste good.

The event also has tons of magazines, press, and celebrities guest that attend each year and this year the performing artist was Alicia Keys. She performed the song New York after the game which fit perfectly with the venue and Statue of Liberty in the background. Fendi also had a pop-up shop during the event in the Rose Garden which was gorgeous.

I was looking forward to seeing all the styles and outfits that day. Everyone gets really dressed up and fancy for this event. I saw a lot of pretty floral summer dresses, beautiful hats and gorgeous shoes. One style tip I learned about this event that I will tell you ahead of time ladies is if you plan on wearing heels to this event, pack flats in your bag or picnic basket. Once you arrive on the island, unless you catch one of the bike rides, it is a LONG walk to the park event space. You can still wear your cute heels for your planned chic outfit, but make sure you have flats or sandals with you. There is a lot of grass and dirt along the way. The walk is a really pretty view and it’s a beautiful location for pictures and views of the water and city.

This event is a great way to kick off and toast to the summer in NYC. Everyone is in good spirits; the game is fun to watch and in picture mode. They literally had installations around the entire venue to take photo’s in front of to show you were at the event and the VCPOLOCLASSIC hashtag everywhere. One of the funniest part of the event was to see what each group would come up with to make of the bottles once they were empty. They sell tons of Polo Classic Swag including this Cute umbrella I purchased as my souvenir that my sister tries to steal every time she visits me. We danced to music on the lawn before calling it a day and heading back to the ferry.

The event was a lot of fun and I would recommend attending if you haven’t gone before. Its usually the first Saturday in June so get ready! Leave a comment below if you ever have attended or plan on attending this year!
